Which hospice in Oakland County can admit the same day, including weekends?

Lily Hospice in Troy admits patients seven days a week across Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. In most cases a nurse evaluates within 24 hours of the first call, and when the physician certification and the family are ready, admission happens the same day, including Saturdays and Sundays. Why speed matters more than families expect
Across the United States about one in four hospice patients dies within five days of admission, and in metro Detroit many families call on a Friday afternoon after a hospital discharge or a bad night. A hospice that “starts Monday” can miss the only days that mattered. Same-day admission means the hospital bed, oxygen, comfort medications and a nurse’s visit happen today, and the family sleeps.
What “same day” actually requires
Three things: a physician who will certify that the illness is likely terminal (your own doctor, or the hospice medical director after evaluation); a family member or patient who chooses hospice; and a hospice with a nurse available now. The first two usually take a phone call. The third is what separates hospices. Ask any hospice you call, “Can a nurse come today?” and listen for a plain yes.
How a same-day admission with Lily works
You call. A real person answers and reaches an admissions nurse within the hour. The nurse comes to the home, assisted living, memory care or nursing facility, wherever your parent already lives, explains the Medicare hospice benefit (which covers everything at no cost to the family), completes the admission, and orders equipment and medications for delivery the same day. If it is 6 p.m. on a Saturday, that is still the plan.
