Our very first Google review · January 2022

Two days before her wedding, her father couldn’t get out of bed.

In January 2022, a few months after Lily Hospice opened, a daughter left the first Google review anyone had ever written about us. We have read it more times than we can count. With her permission, here it is in her own words:

“I was going to miss my wedding in Florida because my father’s cancer had crippled him so much. The day before I was supposed to leave, Lily Hospice got him stable enough to get in an airplane… travel to my wedding… and WALK ME DOWN THE AISLE. 48 hours prior he couldn’t leave his bed due to the cancer taking over. The staff is consistent, competent and responsive to all the needs we had (which were a lot initially). Now my dad spends his last days with me, pain free instead of the misery we fought every day before Lily Hospice.”

What hospice actually does

Most people think hospice means the end of care. Katie’s father’s story is what it looks like when hospice starts early enough: a nurse who can get pain and symptoms under control within a day or two, a team that plans around what matters to the family, and a phone that a real person answers at any hour. Hospice is not giving up. It is showing up.
